What scholarships are available?
The L.A. Alexander Trust is a charitable trust that provides grants and scholarships to Taranaki tertiary students who are looking to study in agriculture, horticulture and veterinary programmes.
We have a range of scholarships and grants, including:
Full-time undergraduate scholarships
For students currently studying, or going to study agriculture, horticulture and veterinary programmes.
Teaching scholarships
For students who have completed an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree in agriculture/horticulture or related subjects and wish to proceed to a Diploma in Teaching
Postgraduate scholarships
For students who have completed a degree and intend to pursue further postgraduate study in the fields of agriculture, horticulture or veterinary science
Research scholarships
For professionals who are undertaking research in agriculture, horticulture or veterinary science.
As well as providing mentoring and networking opportunities to help students connect with other professionals in their field

Financial Assistance for Tertiary Students
Available to students currently studying, or going to study, subjects relating to our primary industries, including agriculture, horticulture and veterinary programmes.
Postgraduate Scholarship
Available to students who have completed a degree and intend to pursue further postgraduate study. Priority will be given to students born, educated or working in the Taranaki area.
Teaching Scholarship
Available to students who have completed an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree in agriculture/horticulture or related subjects and wish to proceed to a Diploma in Teaching.
Stan Florence Agricultural Industry Scholarship
Financial assistance to personnel already serving in a management position in agricultural, horticultural or pastoral industries in Taranaki to attend a nominated course.
Secondary School Grants
The aim of the Trust is to support agricultural education in secondary schools.
Research Grants
The Trust Board is interested in funding research relevant to Taranaki in agriculture and horticulture in its broadest sense including production animals, plants, forestry, the environment and food.
